Roller Garage Doors

Roller garage doors are made from a flexible metal skin or linked horizontal lathes. This forms a door 'curtain' that moves vertically up and down in tracks. The door curtain rolls around a spring-loaded rotating drum which moves it up and down. The drum is usually fitted above the garage opening or aperture.

The complete operating mechanism can be installed behind the garage opening and requires no frame. Roller doors are often factory-fitted for electric operation, but can be operated by hand.

A CFC free foam-filled double aluminium skin is used by some manufacturers to produce superior thermal and sound insulation properties.

Safety Features

There are a number of built-in safety features. Door curtains and mechanisms are designed to protect fingers and feet. The curtain has devices to prevent it from dropping suddenly or accidentally. Electric operators will automatically reverse the door curtain if it touches someone as it closes.

Security Measures

Built-in security features resist unauthorised access. These include auto-locking drum mechanisms, lever resistant rollers and guides, reinforced latching points and door curtain bars. Electric operators support a number of different remote access devices and security coding functions.
