Style & Design

The Sherwood design recreates a traditional timber and part-glazed garage door. A moulded frame encloses two vertically board-style panels with two eight pane window frames above. Black opaque glazing is standard and clear or stippled/opaque optional. The former is ornamental, the latter lets daylight into your garage with the door closed. A wide grain version of Wessex Woodgrain finish creates the appearance and character of timber. It is available in a choice of nineteen colours. The Sherwood is a well constructed and very low maintenance version of a traditional style of timber garage door.

Operating Gear

Wessex offers a choice of Safelift or Slideaway lifting gear for their one piece up and over garage doors. The Safelift overhead gear is compact and simple, but leaves about one third of the door outside the garage when opened. Slideaway gear has smoother operation and allows nearly all the door to be stored inside the garage when fully opened. Slideaway gear is ideal for automation by electric operators.

Materials and Finish

All GRP garage doors from Wessex are durable and low maintenance. The Woodgrain range replicates timber construction and appearance on the front of the moulded door. The Woodgrain surface eliminates painting or staining and GRP provides a stable material that will not shrink or warp. There are nineteen standard finishes for the Woodgrain surface to ensure a match with your preferred colour scheme.

The back of all Woodgrain doors are coated in white to reflect as much light into the garage as possible. The back of the door is completed in three different ways – designated as 3, 4, or 5 Crowns. 3 Crown doors have an integral steel frame bonded over for extra strength and rigidity. 4 Crown doors add a smooth white semi-gloss coating to the back. 5 Crown doors have a flat textured GRP panel bonded to the back - making it extremely rigid and concealing the steel bracing.
